FAST-MOVING CONSUMER GOODS (FMCG)

Keep distribution organized when order volume is high.

Evaluate tasks, vehicles and delivery points together for high-volume, frequently repeated shipments. Build daily or multi-day distribution plans around changing order quantities and operational constraints.

CHALLENGES

Planning challenges in high-volume FMCG distribution

  1. 01

    A wide, dense distribution network

Many points of sale and regions make the planning problem too large to manage by hand.

  2. 02

    Several trips per vehicle

At high volume, vehicles return to the depot during the day to reload. The order and load of each trip must be planned together.

  3. 03

    Growing volume, fixed resources

Meeting rising volume with the same vehicles and drivers makes utilization and shift use critical.

  4. 04

    Costs that grow with scale

As volume grows, small differences in distance, time and overtime costs add up.

HOW TRACKINIA HELPS

How Trackinia plans your FMCG distribution network

  • Multiple depots and trips

Define several depots. Vehicles can return to a depot during the day to reload, and each trip appears separately on the route.

  • Utilization visibility

See the highest planned utilization by weight, volume and item count for each route to judge vehicle use.

  • Bulk data import

Import order, customer, location, vehicle and driver data from files or with an API key, so daily planning does not depend on manual entry.

  • Cost per route

Evaluate plans by seeing fixed, distance, time, waiting, overtime and toll costs per route.

EXAMPLE SCENARIO

Point-of-sale distribution from three regional depots

An FMCG manufacturer’s distribution team delivers every day from three regional depots to a wide network of supermarkets and corner shops. Most vehicles make two trips a day.

Illustrative example: this scenario shows how the product can be used. It is not a customer case or a measured result.

  1. 1

The day’s orders and point-of-sale locations are imported through the API.

  2. 2

Vehicles and depot reload rules are defined for each depot.

  3. 3

The calculation distributes orders across depots, vehicles and trips; each route shows its utilization and cost breakdown.

  4. 4

The planner reviews the routes and costs and then publishes the plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can a vehicle make more than one trip in a day?

Yes. Depot returns and reloading can be configured for vehicles, and each trip on the route is shown separately.

How do we import order and customer data from our systems?

Import CSV or Excel files, or create an API key and send data from your own systems. Customer, location, vehicle, driver and order data can be imported.

Can we see planned vehicle utilization?

Yes. For each route the highest planned utilization is shown separately for measures such as weight, volume and item count.

What happens if not every order can be planned?

Work that cannot be planned because of capacity or rules is listed separately with a reason. You can mark priority orders in advance.
